United Way Sponsors DG’s 5K Run

United Way Turks and Caicos Islands was proud to sponsor and participate in the Inaugural Deputy Governor’s 5K Run/Walk for a Cause, joining nearly 1,000 enthusiastic participants for a morning filled with community spirit, determination, and celebration.

Among the participants was United Way TCI Board Member Mark Fulford, who laced up his sneakers and took on the challenge with focus and energy. The fresh morning air and upbeat soundtrack set the tone as runners and walkers gathered, ready to contribute to a meaningful cause.

Mark’s journey through the course was one of light-hearted competition and camaraderie. From the initial burst of adrenaline to the much-needed water station halfway through the race, the experience was a testament to the power of perseverance—and hydration. Even Fortis VP Devon Cox made it a close race, with friendly rivalry driving both runners to push harder.

Encouragement came from all directions, including waves and cheers from Deputy Governor Anya Williams and His Excellency the Governor, which provided a timely motivational boost. Along the route, many familiar faces from the community and F Chambers were spotted, exchanging laughs and support as they powered through the course.

As the finish line approached, cheers from friends and family helped carry Mark and so many others across the line in high spirits. The event was not only a fitness challenge, but a celebration of unity and giving back.

A special congratulations goes out to the top finishers:

🏆 Women’s Category
🥉 3rd – Lynn Robinson
🥈 2nd – Karyn Downes
🥇 1st – Tenisha Gardiner

🏆 Men’s Category
🥉 3rd – Ali Higgs
🥈 2nd – Rasheed Campbell
🥇 1st – Kevern Debellot

All three men represented the Road Dogs Running Club, and their speed on the course was nothing short of impressive.

United Way TCI extends its gratitude to the Deputy Governor’s Office and all involved for creating an event that brought the community together in such a powerful way. Here’s to many more miles—and milestones—ahead!
